Ever had difficulty dealing with life? Making a change or taking a risk?
Quitting a bad habit? Leaving a job? Facing illness? Ending a relationship? Being healthy? Pursuing a dream? It isn't easy. Sometimes we just need a friend.
If you know someone who needs a friend that is understanding and always supportive - with a brave heart and a strong funny bone... You Have a Friend in Chuck!
Chuck only exists because people from America to Australia literally loved him into becoming real. It turns out the little pink bean bag character I created and thought had disappeared has given laughter, love and comfort to people all over the world - in very dramatic ways - by just being himself. We can do the same. Love has resur- rected him and changed both our lives. I hope you love him too. Graham Sale, Chuck's creator
Chuck means something different to everyone.
John, from Memphis put it best:
"Chuck is a metaphor for whatever people need him to be.
But ultimately he is about love and understanding."

A Message From Chuck!
HI EVERYBODY! I'M BACK! If you don't know me let me introduce myself...
I began as a doodle in 1986, by illustrator, Graham Sale (see Chuck's Story), and debuted as my pink, pudgy, self in 1989. It was exciting. I was written about in newspapers, talked about on the radio... I even received write-in votes for Govenor of New Jersey! But the economy crashed and I vanished and was forgotten...or so I thought. It turns out people kept me alive all these years and have literally loved me into being real and coming back!
For fun I launched a single web page and suddenly I was swamped with e-mails, letters and photos from people all over the world who have loved me all these years and been looking for me! I was stunned. They’ve made me part of their families, introduced me to friends, made me clothes, and taken me all over the world! I’ve been to over 40 countries, on 7 continents, and every state in USA. I’ve been photgraphed at the Olympics, the World Cup in Brazil, Africa, Australia, Russia, Cuba, Finland, Japan, Netherlands, Italy, England, Spain and Alcatraz, just to name a few. I’ve even been to Elvis' grave! People have been doing this with me long before the internet or YouTube existed!
I'm deeply moved to discover how many people have used me for support and comfort in the face of illness, abuse and despair. I've been in surgery with friends, comforted abused, special needs and at-risk. Educators, social workers, therapist and even the police have used me to teach and help comfort those in need. I've even been involved in fundraising for cancer and other wonderful causes. So I’m making my comeback!
John Travolta Came Back!
William Shatner has been beamed back!
Rocky, Cher & Barbara won't stop coming back!
Even the Democrats insist they are back!
Why not me?
Chuck exists only because of the love and generousity of others and so I feel compelled to give back to those who need his love and comfort most. Many companies do this once they've become solvent but I feel it's important to be consistent with Chuck's message and to B the Message from the beginning

-- "You have NO IDEA how happy my family and I were to find Chuck again! Just knowing we will have Chuck in our hands and lives again has caused such a frenzy in our group!
While in college my daughter, Michelle, found Chuck in a shop sitting on a shelf with his little pink legs dangling - and fell in love with him. It was the beginning of BC and Michelle's love affair and travels. She brought him everywhere and allowed him to go on sleepovers and trips with her friends. We lost Michelle to cancer on Oct. 28, 1996. Chuck was by her side all while she was being treated... Sadly he got left behind. We have often wondered where he is now and who has him. But we suspect he is spreading his charm with his present owner in the same way he charmed Michelle, her friends and family. He lives in our memories as well as in photos of Michelle and her college buddies on the wall of her room at my home and in photo albums...He's a reminder to all of us of the companionship and laughter that he gave Michelle, and she in turn shared with others.
Recently, Mary, Michelle's dear friend and Boneless Chuck lover announced she absolutely NEEDED to find to find BC. We couldn't believe when we googled "Boneless Chuck doll" and found you! The excitement this created is beyond words...emails were flying...I ordered five!"

-- "I'm a detective Sgt. in N.J. who uses Chuck in my interviews with children who are victims of sexual abuse. Children are drawn to him and like to hold him shile they discuss their abuse. Many ask if they can take Chuck home but I tell them that Chuck lives in my office for all the children that come in to speak with me. It's obvious the children are comforted by Chuck and that makes my job easier. I can't than you enough, Graham, for bringing him back." - T.L.
-- "Many years ago a patient gave me Boneless (as I refer to him) as a gift. He is a special attraction to my young patients. There is a 9yro. boy that I see and he LOVES Boneless. He has made tremendous strides in his progress and he wanted Boneless, so I google "Boneless Chuck" and lo and behold there you were! Thanks for the great service and thanks for Boneless, Graham." - Carol Schwartz, Phd. Pshycological Institutes of Michigan
-- "I'm a BIG ADMIRER of Chuck. Yes he is cute pink and adorable. But it's his endeavors to make this world a better place and his compassion to work for those who suffer that I deeply value. In fact, I don't consider him a toy or a doll. I feel he is an angel, a guardian angel. He comforts those who suffer from illness...not just physical but emotional like loneliness and depression. I can speak from this perspective with much experience.
Boney is my friend and when I look at him he brings me comfort and hope that someday there will be someone special in my life. When I become sad or distressed I look at Chuck and he makes me smile. He doesn't help pay the mortgage but he doesn't talk back either, Ha! Chuck's messages are infinite. His "Be the Message" campaign is very innovative and relative to all the hardships people live with daily. He helps people with cancer, abused men, woman and children, people with broken hearts (medical and emotional), those who suffer from depression and he is always encouraging people worldwide to improve our world.
Spreading goodwill and love are his mission. He is my friend and I'm honored. After all, friends are like flowers in the garden of life and I consider Boneless a ROSE...a brilliant pink rose that blooms with love, understanding and hope. One of Boneys' friends is a darling abused child. Someone shook him and he became brain dead. Chuck sits on the child's shoulders and gently has him under his wings...like an angel. He is truly "Being the Message. Boneless Rocks!"

-- Chuck is in England! "The day Boneless Chuck (or 'Gary' as James calls him) arrived here in England, James introduced him to all his other toys. He has been given the job of guarding James' juice at night time, which is a very important job. I can tell you this did not go down well with Neil the Rhino." -- Brian, James' father.

-- "I've so missed my BC! I fell in love with him immediately. He was so adorable, squishy, and sensitive. My son was born with trouble hearing. I bought Chuck thinking thinking he'd help us communicate better. But I was in an abusive relationship and his father was livid that I'd give him something pink (God forbid!) So I kept Chuck myself. He became my secret friend and bed-buddy. On nights when I was particularly hurting or feeling unsafe I felt like I had a friend. That may sound strange - but it's true. Many nights I lay their crying, hurt and sometimes bleeding there was Chuck... not spineless, not weak and not un-strong! He was everything the opposite. To me, Chuck was someone I could talk to, someone that would protect me. Oh, the things we went through! What a wonderful comforter he was for me.
So, what happened to Chuck? He was destroyed in a raging tirade by my husband. I'm so sorry. I've often wondered where my stories and secrets wet. Did they get trashed with him? But instead of being sad and a total victim, I grew a spine! I decided to stop hiding and found help. Now I'm strong-willed and have learned to trust again. I continue to nurture my five sons on my own and know I'll be OK no matter what life throws at me. I've been rich. I've been poor. I've been healthy. I have cancer. I've been hopeless and now again I'm always hopeful.
In Oct. I'm planning to walk the 3-Day 60 mile Breast Cancer Walk in Philadelphia. I'm planning on Chuck walking with me and acompanying me to my chemo treatments. I apologize for not taking better care of Chuck, but neither of use were a match for that monster. I look forward to being with Chuck again and bringing him to treatment...I ordered three!" -- Love, Lynn Nigro
-- "Boneless Chuck May have no spine ~ but his stitches of love, support, friendship, hope, imagination, and living life with meaning are what hold him together Graham.
Chuck is a gift. A gift born out of creativity, imagination, humor and the love and understanding of people, that YOU posess. While every Good thing in life starts with an idea, every great thing in life comes from something else...something bigger. Some people call it Passion. Some call it Compassion. I call it Love...To me that is what Chuck represents Graham...Pure, Uninhibited, Unconditional Love...
Chuck walked with me in October for the Susan Koman Cancer Run... Actually Two Chucks did. They were both strung on my back like Angel Wings...Every step I took was magical. They were steps that were gifted to me because I should not have been able to do that walk. There was a time not long ago I was writing my last will and testament and my family was preparing funeral arrangements. But, it was Love... Hope... Support...all of the unconditional kind that brought me to that race, that day in October. And You and Chuck were right there with me, sharing that experience.
My wish for Chuck, and you, Graham, is to be able to get Boneless Chuck and ALL of his messages out there, in this great big world of ours, to share in those same feelings of Love, Support and Hope. Chuck is an inspiration. I wish I could buy 1000 Chucks and give them out to those who could use a little love and hope in their life. You BOTH are valued and valid to me. You are BOTH loved and appreciated. My Gratitude for you both is Forever...And I Thank You."
- Love, Jenn Morgan
CHUCK!! I found you!
So on Sunday 10/7/07 I came downstairs to see that my husband was already up and reading the morning paper. Not being much of a morning person I sat down quietly and stared up at the TV. Then it happened... I looked down at the table and a familiar face caught my eye. I was screaming in a blink of an eye. "Oh my God, Boneless Chuck”!! My husband having just read about Chuck, and might I say had NEVER heard of him, looked at me in disbelief over my excitement.
For Chuck and me it was a casual meeting at a local dept. store in Elmira, NY. I was browsing up and down the aisles and suddenly made eye contact with this short bald man. I looked away but was compelled to look back in his direction. Yes he was still looking at me. I got up the nerve to go over to him and just smile. As it turns out Chuck came home with me.
Chuck became a true friend to me. He went everywhere with me. While riding in the car he would help me by keeping the kids entertained. He would sing and dance and do funny poses. The thing that made us laugh the most was while stopped in traffic he would just wave to everyone. He received many waves and smiles in return.
After years of understanding and lots of listening something happened. Chuck disappeared during one of the hardest times in my life. I was going through a divorce and he was just gone. To this day I still suspect foul play but could never prove it.
So you see, the fact that I have found Boneless Chuck again is just wonderful. He will be returning to me very soon and I can hardly wait to see him again. Of course time has past and the kids have grown but we will be able to pick up right where we left off.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for all the laughs that you gave to me and my family.
With Sincere regards,
Michele Staple.
